R is free, open-source software for working with, analyzing, and visualizing data. Data visualization is an activity that attracts many new users to R, and with good reason. In this online, 1.5-hour workshop, we’ll investigate the ggplot2 package, first making sense of the conceptual “grammar of graphics” and then applying it hands-on with a variety of plots, such as scatter plots, histograms, and bar charts. For hands-on participation, we recommend prior exposure to R and RStudio (e.g., our Getting Started with R and RStudio workshop).

Can't make it to this workshop? Check out our other R workshops! You can always contact us with your questions about this and other digital scholarship topics.

This workshop is part of our Coding and Computational Methods Series.

Please check in with the presenter for your workshop or contact Gesina Phillips (gap64@pitt.edu) if you have any pre-event questions. All are welcome at online events!
