Command Line Basics
Event box
The Linux command line (or terminal or shell) can be found in many research computing environments, and sometimes it’s your only choice of interface with a system. It’s also handy for certain software such as Git or other utilities that are available only on the command line. In this hands-on, online workshop, we will learn how to navigate and work in this environment.
Workshop preparation: Windows users will need to install Git (with Git Bash): https://git-scm.com/downloads. MacOS and Linux users do not need to install anything.
This workshop is part of our Dealing with Data Series.
Please check in with the presenter for your workshop or contact Gesina Phillips (gap64@pitt.edu) if you have any pre-event questions. If you are not a Pitt affiliate, most software should still be available to you, with the exception of ArcGIS and Photoshop--please get in touch if you have any other questions about your ability to participate.
