During the hot, sweaty months of July and August 2018, middle and high school students at PRYSE Academy, a summer camp for immigrant and refugee youth in Pittsburgh, grabbed digital cameras to photograph what they think of the city. Students squinted at the city through their viewfinders, snapping pictures outside summer camp in the West End, around their neighborhoods, and inside their homes.

The students live in Pittsburgh; speak multiple languages; and come from Yemen, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Kurdistan, Myanmar, and Somalia. What does Pittsburgh mean to them?

These are the stories they chose to tell.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. It will remain up through March 2019 during Hillman Library operating hours.
