The ULS invites all interested individuals to please join us on Thursday, March 28 for an Exhibit Talk on the current Hillman Library exhibit, Travelers Along the Silk Roads, 10th Century to the Present, from noon to 1 p.m.  This event is a part of our series of exhibit talks, faculty and guest speakers, and films highlighting the Silk Road exhibit, which is on view through May 2019.

We will meet and begin in the Ground Floor Lobby of Hillman Library with presentations on the large GIS map of the Eurasian land mass which traces the route of the Silk Road from Constantinople in the west to Xian in the east, along with the Catalan Atlas map produced in 1375 and attributed to Abraham Cresques.  We will then move to the Second Floor where five display cases feature themed exhibits on Cartography and Painting in China, 10th-14th Centuries; Alexander the Great, Kublai Khan, and Marco Polo; Musical Encounters in Central Asia; Aurel Stein and Bamiyan; and the China Trade and New World Exploitation.
