Join us Friday, June 6th for art viewing, spoken word performance, and live music with discussion. "Remember When," a literary and visual exploration of memory and healing, comes to the August Wilson House. This project was created by August Wilson Archive Community Artist Scholar Erka Johnson. It was inspired by Erika’s research within the archive where she viewed materials and drew inspiration from August Wilson's "Fences." Remember When is a part of Erika Denae J’s upcoming music and literary project "In the Mood For."
This event is FREE and open to the public.

Erika is a multidisciplinary artist whose disciplines seek to create music, literature, and spaces that support socio-emotional wellness and build community. Her creative practice has included releasing her debut music project, Rx Melodies (Prescription Melodies) (2022) and authoring The Encouragement Guide: An Interactive Journal to Build Healthy Self-Esteem and Confidence for Girls. Erika has also curated programs and events such as the Healing Intensive Creative Arts Program, , a summer wellness program for adolescent girls, and The Singer’s Tea, an event that blends live improvisational performance, discussion, and wellness education. Erika is currently writing her sophomore project, an album-book experience, and pursuing a master’s degree in music therapy.
