Please join us for a family friendly workshop which will be let by August Wilson Archive Community Artist Scholar DS Kinsel. This workshop will focus on August Wilson’s influences otherwise known as The 4 B’s: The blues, the art of Romare Bearden, the writing of Amiri Baraka, and the work of Jorge Luis Borges. This session will explore Wilson’s influences through collage, painting, and storytelling activities. The workshop begins with a Storytime led by DS Kinsel. The story time will be followed by the creation of Romare Bearden-inspired collages. Finally, participants will explore The Blues by recreating Kinsel’s Four B’s painting—using as many shades of BLUE as possible!

This project is a result of The August Wilson Archive Community Artist-Scholar Award Program. This program provides support and incentive for local artists to explore the August Wilson Archive and create an artistic/creative work to share with the community.
