Did you know that over 90% of Wikipedia editors are male? The Art+Feminism campaign began in 2014 with the goals of improving coverage of gender in the arts on Wikipedia and encouraging and training people of all genders to edit entries and contribute to Wikipedia. Each year since then, communities around the world have hosted their own Wikipedia edit-a-thons, which provide on-site support for new editors and reference materials to provide content for entries about the women and non-binary artists who are currently underrepresented on Wikipedia. This year's Pittsburgh edit-a-thon will be held at Carnegie Public Library's Main Branch on Saturday, March 28 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

To prepare those who are new to Wikipedia for this event, we are offering a hands-on training in Digital Scholarship Services. We'll share examples of entries in need of further research and editing, and teach attendees how to create Wikipedia editor accounts, start new entries, and add information to existing ones. Whether or not you plan to attend Saturday's event, we welcome you to come learn more about representation in Wikipedia, and practice some of the skills required to contribute to this community resource.
