Open Access Week Workshop: Finding OA Publishing Venues (Online)

Event box

In celebration of Open Access Week, join Scholarly Publishing Librarian Phoebe Duke-Mosier (University Library System) and Scholarly Communication and Research Impact Librarian Jonah McAllister-Erickson (Health Sciences Library System) for a discussion about finding open access publishing venues. This workshop will cover:

  • open access publishing models;
  • considerations when selecting an OA journal; and
  • how to take advantage of Pitt's open access publishing agreements with 20+ publishers including ACM, ACS, Cambridge, Elsevier, RSC, SAGE, and Wiley, which allow eligible Pitt authors to publish open access at no charge or a discounted article processing charge (APC)

Can't make it to this workshop? You can always contact us with your questions about this or other digital scholarship and publishing topics! Read more about Digital Scholarship & Publishing support.

Open Access Week (October 19-25) is an annual global event that serves as an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research. This year's theme, "The Cost of Knowledge," challenges us to consider the financial, human, and environmental costs of creating, sharing, and sustaining knowledge—particularly when these costs are driven by private rather than public interests.

Please check in with the workshop or contact ULS-DigitalScholarshipServices@pitt.edu if you have any pre-event questions. All are welcome at our online events!
